Since 1985 Steve Canfield and Canfield Development Company have specialized in the development of upscale single-family residential communities throughout the greater Louisville area including Prospect, Eastern Jefferson County and Oldham County. Developments include the highly successful communities of Innisbrook, Spring Farm Place, Beech Spring Farm, Falls Creek, Landis Lakes, Wolf Pen Woods, Autumn Ridge and Wolf Pen Springs.
Canfield’s newest developments, Harrods Glen, Poplar Woods, Shakes Run, The Gardens at Beech Spring Farm and Spring Farm Glen, are now open. Spring Farm Pointe is now under construction and will be opening early this summer.
Several other developments are currently in the works and will be announced later this year.

Our Team
Steve Canfield
Owner & Chief Executive Officer, Canfield Development Co.
Steve Canfield is the founder and visionary of Canfield Development Company. Founded in 1985, Canfield Development has always strived to offer the best land planning and architecture in the best locations. Steve has successfully sold over 1,300 residential homesites in Oldham and Jefferson County neighborhoods of his creation. He majored in Sociology at Western Kentucky University and utilizes the skills learned there in his leadership and application of the company’s primary ethics of integrity, quality and teamwork. Steve spends his free time supporting many Louisville organizations and charities and supports his team’s efforts in philanthropy wholeheartedly.
Mike Jones
President and Planning Co-coordinator, Canfield Development Co.
Mike Jones has applied his landscape architecture and psychology studies at Tulane and the University of Kentucky to the successful operation of Mike Jones Nurseries (a local design/build landscape company) and Jordan River Development Company. As President and owner of Jordan River, Mike has developed and successfully planned over 500,000 square feet of commercial property and 1,250 single-family and multi-family residential homes. Mike is responsible for the land planning, landscape architectural and engineering facets of new neighborhoods for Canfield Development. He is very involved in volunteering on civic and educational boards throughout the area.
Christa Edwards
Chief Financial Officer, Human Resources Director and Office Manager, Canfield Development Co.
Christa Edwards is responsible for the oversight of all financial operations for Canfield Development Company. Her degrees in accounting and computer information systems have been vital in the creation and financial oversight of over 50 properties. Christa is also the Human Resources Director and Office Manager for Canfield Development. She has been with Canfield Development since its inception.
Tony Waits
Counsel/Attorney at Law, Canfield Development Co.
Tony Waits is legal counsel for Canfield Development and brings vast residential development and legal experience to his duties. His law degree from Salmon P. Chase College of Law and Economics and Business Administration degree from Rollins College have been utilized in his careers at Dairy Mart, Jefferson Development Group, Commonwealth Development Corporation, and now at Canfield Development. Tony serves his community on many local boards and has been involved with Canfield Development since its inception.
Terry Lloyd
Director of Construction, Canfield Development Co.
Terry Lloyd has successfully applied his knowledge and degree in geosciences to the oversight, estimating and construction of commercial, residential, and golf course projects in the Louisville area exceeding $125 million in overall construction costs. Since 2001, Terry has overseen all aspects of construction at Canfield Development Company, from value-added engineering to bond release.
John Ames
Construction Project Manager
John Ames is Construction Project Manager for new neighborhood construction and oversees the daily maintenance operation of all Canfield Properties. John’s degree in finance with an emphasis on real estate from Virginia Tech prepared him well for a career in residential mortgage banking prior to joining Canfield Development. John has always been passionate about the creation and construction of residential neighborhoods. His construction experience with Canfield Development dates back to summer work, during college, on the maintenance crews.
Sonny Whittle
Creative Director, Canfield Design Studio
As a seasoned artist/designer, Sonny Whittle has been chosen to serve as Creative Director of the newly established Canfield Design Studio. Sonny’s experience and skills cover a large range of art and design challenges. His specific talent for exterior styling will be extremely helpful – one of Sonny’s most recent efforts is in the field of historic architecture and his personal slogan to that point is, “Historically Motivated Art and Design”. Sonny has been responsible for the creative visioning behind many prominent neighborhoods in the Louisville area.
Bill Fisher
Architectural Designer, Canfield Design Studio
Bill Fisher has been producing quality award-winning residential designs in the Louisville area for over 31 years. Some of his awards include Homearama and Remodeling Awards from the Home Builders Association of Louisville. He enjoys a degree in architectural engineering and applies his skills and talents volunteering to build and remodel churches in the area. At the Canfield Design Studio, Bill is responsible for the creation of new and exciting floor plans for today’s style of living.
Jeromy Hofmeister
Architectural Designer, Canfield Design Studio
Jeromy Hofmeister has applied his education in physics from Eastern Kentucky University to the art forms of construction and architecture. He has successfully managed the design and construction of projects both locally and globally and operated his own architectural design business for the past eight years. Jeromy brings CAD experience and a creative mind to the Canfield Design Studio and is responsible for the creation and computer-assisted drafting of home plans for Canfield Design Studio.
